I am from Germany and searching for information about my great great … grandfather Gottfried Pagel and his family, which emigrated to the U.S. in 1874.
Gottfried Pagel was born on 11.October, 1814 in Fahrenwalde, Pommerania, Prussia (Germany). He was a carpenter. His wife Charlotte Pagel, birth name Westphal, was born on the 25.June, 1812 in Fahrenwalde, Pommerania, Prussia.
They arrived in New York with the SS Schiller on 28.Oct, 1874. The journey started at Hamburg harbour. Their daughter Friederike Wilhelmine Wichmann, birth name Pagel, and her Husband Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Wichmann travelled with them. Friederike Wichmann was born in 1843 in Fahrenwalde and Carl Wichmann was born in 1843.
Where did they settle down? Are there further descendants? When did they die?
I assume that they lived near the Niagara Falls, because a lot of people of the region Fahrenwalde settled down there.
Another member of my family also immigrated to the US. Her name was Maria Engel, birth name Pagel. She was born on 18 March, 1808 in Fahrenwalde and was married with Christian Friedrich Engel, born on 03.February, 1805 in Fahrenwalde. He died on 19.April, 1952 in Fahrenwalde, which is why Maria Engel must emigrated from Germany after 1852. But I couldn’t find any information when she emigrated and where she settled in US.
If anyone has information regarding my family, I would be grateful for an email.
I have a lot of information of Pagel and other persons from Fahrenwalde.
