I was chasing Jeremiah "Jerry" Page, 1859 - 1939. In 1895 he married Nancy Jane Carter (1861 - 1923). Nancy Jane Carter's obituary says "She leaves . . . two step children, Elsie Wade and Alvie Page . . ." In 1900 Jeremiah and Nancy are in Elm River, Wayne, Illinois: Jerry Page, 41, head, Dec 1858, Ill, Ky, Ill, Farmer Nancy Page, 37, wife, Sept 1862, Ill, Ky, Ky Mabel Page, 2, dau, May 1898, Ill, Ill, Ill (He uses "Jerry" in 1910, 1920 and 1930 also.) BUT, here are Elsie and Alvie in 1900: Salem, Edwards, Illinois: Erastus Elliott, 25, head, July 1874, Ill, Ill, Ill Ernest Elliott, 23, brother, Oct 1876, Ill, Ill, Ill Nancy Page, 56, mother, June 1843, bore 10, 7 living, Ill, Indiana, Virginia Elsie Page, 15, half sister, July 1884. Ill, Ill, Ill Alva Page, 14, half-brother, *** 1886, Ill, Ill, Ill Nancy Page there looks like Page, Jeremiah to Elliott, Nancy C on 1883-07-04 Volume D, page 89, license 1314; Edwards Co. from http://www.ilsos.gov/GenealogyMWeb/marrsrch.html Here is the widow Elliott in 1880: 1880: Coffee, Wabash, Illinois (p. 72D on the LDS) (Name, Relation, Marital Status, Gender, Race, Age, Birthplace, Occupation, Father's Birthplace, Mother's Birthplace) Nancy Elliott, Self, W, Female, W, 40, Il, Keeps House, Pa, Pa, Constantine Elliott, Son, S, Male, W, 15, Il, Works On Farm, Oh, Il, William Elliott, Son, Male, W, 14, Il, Works On Farm, Oh, Il, Alice Elliott, Dau, S, Female, W, 12, Il, Housework, Oh, Il, Erastus Elliott, Son, S, Male, W, 9, Il, Oh, Il, Earnest Elliott, Son, S, Male, W, 6, Il, Oh, Il, Albert Elliott, Son, S, Male, W, 6m, Il, Oh, Il Note "Erastus". One hopes he got his growth early and had a sense of humor, so he could pound people who made fun of him or laugh it off, depending. Ernest/Earnest strengthens the argument that this is the same family from 1900. Earnest must have suffered from people mentioning "two maggots were fighting in dead earnest". Size and a sense of humor again. So - did Jeremiah really marry a widow almost 20 years older than he, have two children by her then dump her like a used Kleenex and go off with a younger woman? In addition, I found this. Did he have three wives? 1880: Coffee, Wabash, Illinois: (Name, Relation, Marital Status, Gender, Race, Age, Birthplace, Occupation, Father's Birthplace, Mother's Birthplace) Elizabeth Black, Self, W, Female, W, 52, Il, Keeps House, Nc, Nc, Jehn Black, Son, S, Male, W, 26, Il, Farming, Oh, Il, Jersey Black, Dau, S, Female, W, 20, Il, At Home, Il, Il, Susan Page, Dau, M, Female, W, 23, Il, At Home, Il, Il, Jeremiah Page, SonL, M, Male, W, 21, Il, Works On Farm, ---, --- Notify Administrator about this message?
