Hello Rachel.
My connection is through John Romaine who married Maria Pafford on 1st September 1811 at St Mary's Church in Portsea.
They had two sons - John born 1816 and Richard born 1813 both in Gosport.
John senior had died before 1839 when John junior married for the second time.
John senior was a Sailor.
I haven't got any further with the Pafford's apart from Maria's siblings and her parents.
I would love to know more if you have any information, please.
It is obvious that whoever wrote to you stating the Romaine surname is someone to do with my lot too.
I would be very interested if you could tell me who it was, please.
