Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Janie,
You can create a small GEDCOM file for the family details. Just click FILE/EXPORT and make sure STANDARD GEDCOM 5.5 is ticked. At the bottom of this box in SELECTED INDIVIDUALS tick PARTIAL/SELECT. Then select the family or families you wish to include, noting the number of generations. When the GEDCOM is created and saved attach it to your e-mail message and send. Your friend can then IMPORT your GEDCOM into a new database and have a look at what you have sent.
