Correct way to cite sources?

Hello, I had PAF 2.31 and updated it to 4.0. My sources and notes are now kind of mixed up. Since it looks like I will be redoing my sources, is there a guide for the correct way to cite sources so that I won't have to do this again? Also I would like examples of sources from censuses, parish records, books, courthouse b.m.d records, etc, so that I am doing it in some consistent way. As I look through my current source list, they are written in many variations. Thanks for your help. Linda
