Thanks Bill
In the family tree I am referring to my File No. is "11(Chapter number of the initial family)1B2A3H6J5A"
(11-1B2A3H6J5A)where each character represents a generation. I have children and grand-children to add to this line.
eg My first gandchild to my eldest child would be 11-1B2A3H6J5A1A, 15 characters. In this family tree there are several instances where the generation number is even greater.
I was wishing to maintain the file numbers used in the book of the family but if I can't then I will have to make up another sequence. Thanks anyway for your suggestions.
Cheers Russell
