Personal Ancestral File Forum

I've been using PAF since it was a baby -- I think I started with PAF 1.0 back in about 1988. I have used Family Tree Maker (and still use it as a utility program because I like its "outline descendants chart" better than that produced by PAF or PAF Companion). Like you, I really like the ease of navigating with PAF, and the ease of data entry without constantly switching screens.
My only complaint is that every once in awhile my (very large) file gets "pointer" errors which seem to be impossible to fix with the normal Check/Fix command. Most of these pointer errors are minor, but sometimes things get a little messed up (e.g., some user fields like "Residence" get put in the wrong place). I've bought a program called PAF Insight, which manages to fix the pointer errors -- but PAF Insight does other things to my file that I don't like.
I've read that there is a commercial program called "Ancestral Quest" that is completely compatible with PAF -- and that PAF actually was built on the Ancestral Quest model.
