Thanks for the reply. Your suggestion was one of the first things that I tried to do. The only thing that is accomplished is the page numbers for the indexed persons is correct. Names and dates that were deleted or changed in the editing remain in the index. I believe that the index of names and dates was generated in the generation of the book and when the word processor generates the index it used what was sent from PAF and only inserted page numbers and put it in correct order. I am now in the process of editing an entire 20 page index! Hope my problem and the posting will help someone avoid the problem in the future. The instructions on in PAF Companion should point out this potential problem. Thanks, John H. Emerson
