.PAF & .ZIP Backup External hard drive

Bill, I hope you can help me again, please.

My .PAF file on which I work is on my F: drive.

It has .paf at end of its name

I just went into File and hit BACKUP and gave it a different name and sent it to my I: drive which is on an external hard drive.

Why does this one, on the hard drive, have a .ZIP ending and the one I work on all the time, on F: drive have a .PAF ending?
