Am I right in understanding that you have installed the software on your WindowsXP computer and it doesn't work?
Often un-installing and re-installing will solve the problem of a faulty installation.
The 1881 census of England and Wales is accessible via web browser at www.familysearch.org but I know that the 1881 census of Scotland (for example) is not available there but is accessible on CD using a resource viewer.
I think your best chance is to un-install the faulty Resource Viewer from your XP computer and re-install it. If that doesn't solve the problem, you might be able to discuss it with someone at Distribution Services. (A free call, but it takes patience to get through the voice-mail-maze 1-800-537-5971)
