You'll need to first download and install PAF on your new computer. You can do that at

Now for your data: The backup file you emailed to yourself should have been a .ZIP file. This is actually a compressed folder that contains your .PAF file. You need to save this file you've attached to your email into a directory (folder) where you can find it later. You'll also need to know where you installed the PAF program on your computer. By deafult it goes to: Program Files/FamilySearch/Paf5. Inside that folder is where you'll want to place the .PAF file. The way you get the .PAF file out of the ZIP files is: Go to Windows Explorer, and get to where you can see the place where you saved the .ZIP file. Double click the .ZIP file. On the left side of your screen, you'll see: EXTRACT ALL FILES. After clicking on that, you'll be prompted for a location to place the .PAF file. You should put it in the Program Files/FamilySearch/Paf5 folder/directory.

You can also download Companion from the familysearch site, although it is not a free download. You should have your licensing number from when you purchased it before.
