Hi Scott,

The only thing PAF handles is giving you the option of identifying the relationship as adopted. After that, whether you use the original or adopted names is up to you and notes. Most times, we don't know the natural parents so cannot include them but with open adoptions, I suppose that is going to become more common.

I think the most important issue with adopted children and their adoptive parents is to talk to them and ask them how they want it published and respect their wishes.

What you include in your research notes is up to you but bracket it before/after by something like "do not publish while living" or somesuch warning. Their children may not wish to have it published while they are living, too.
