Hi,

What is the make, model of PC, CD Burner and backup software? Everyone saving files may want to rethink and save them to My Documents.

Then, when a backup is completed, the files are easy to find.

Sometimes Windows has to be reinstalled and the older folders like Windows and Program Files are wiped out then reinstalled.

But if all the "Data" files are in My Documents they are not lost.

And all "Data" files created should be backed up / burned to a CD. You may want to practice on a CD-RW until you get the hang of it.
