PAF and photos query

I am fairly new to using PAF software and don't understand what the best way is to link in your photos against ancestors names. Till now I have been using the multimedia space but if I then want to save my family tree to CD-to show other family members my progress, obviously all the links are lost. If I permanently store my PAF file to CD with the photos on the CD aswell, then obviously saving it each time I update it is slightly more tedious and also I would be worried that if the disk became faulty I would lose everything.
Am I missing something or is the only solution to go and buy a pen drive.......

How does everyone else do it?

Thanks

Helen
