I recently upgraded, or should I say downgraded, to PAF 5.2 and PAF Companion (Register Format) from PAF 2.31 and Gen-Book, created by Rex Clement. PAF Companion is like a Model-T vs a 2005 Mercedes when compared to Gen-Book.
My question is this. I want to write my family data in the Notes section of PAF 5.2 Is there any size limitation on the Notes for an Individual.
My second question is unrelated. I had WordPerfect 12 word processor installed on my new XP computer. PAF Companion does not recognize this version of WordPerfect. By various ways, I was able to move a genealogy in register format to WP 12; however, creating an Index was a real problem. After much effort, I created a one column index which was unsatisfactory. What did I do wrong.
My third question also unrelated. Are any PAF Companion upgrades expected soon to solve the register format situation. Is there another program that addresses the problems. These are format problems where the data is not properly converted to reasonable full text data.
I cannot accept less than I had without complaining. I need to junk my old system but can't part with the perfect setup. Unfortunately, lack of CD-Rom burner, memory, and disk space has forced me to upgrade my system. I think I would like PAF 5.2 if PAF Companion equaled Gen-Book.
