Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

First a question. As it is a backup file does it need to be anything other than read only?

Certainly on the CD-R I wouldn't expect that you could update it from within PAF. If you do want to update a copy on the hard drive, right click on the file name in Windows Explorer and click on Properties. I expect you will see the read-only attribute is ticked. Clear that and you will be able to update it.

Regards,
Graham
