Short file names-Photos-RTF Export

With the previous version of PAF 5.2.12, Print To File exports of reports did not correctly link Photos for me with Word97 on a Win98 machine. The RTF "Print to File" output contained incorrect linkage to some non-existent NT folder. I did some serious virus checking and uninstalling of other programs and re-installing PAF 5 at the time because I thought my computer might somehow might be at fault.

The rest of the Global PAF 5 user community remained silent on the issue, on this and other public forums that I checked.

Now with the newly released PAF 5.2.18.0 installed on a Win XP machine, I find that the RTF "Print to File" exports do not use long file names. All Directory/Folder/File names are truncated to eight characters.

Is this a requirement of RTF? Or is it to maintain compatability with obsolescent software? It would certainly seem to have a potential for problems in maintaining Image Libraries of linked files.

I do not have access to a full featured Text Editor at this time, so do not know if the Photo linkage works properly with XP. I have been unable to get the images to show up in the current version of MSWorks.

But regardless of the design intent on this particular issue, hats off to the developers for a beautifully laid out program.
