Carole,

to IMPORT the data into PAF, you need the GEDCOM file (database file with file extension .ged).

An RTF file is a report printout (a type of text file), and the data are not in a database format -- PAF can only import the GEDCOM.

You may want to ask your cousin to export the Gedcom, and send you that. Then you can import that into a PAF file, but suggest you create a separate PAF file to avoid possibly overwriting any of your own data.
