Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

The only way you can make a source record independent of the master list is to put your sources in the notes of the individual.
To cut your source list down to a smaller list you might try merging your duplicated sources. To do this go to the Tool Bar and click on the Tool Button. Then select Merge DUplicate Sources & Citations.
I hope this can help you.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Good luck hunting. Evelyn
