Patricia, your PAF 3 program offers you two options to create a GEDCOM - either PAF 3 or PAF 2. However, with PAF 5, you don't have to create a GEDCOM of your data to move it over to PAF 5. PAF 5 will convert your PAF 3 data, BUT, and this is important to remember: it only CONVERTS the data it doesn't remove it. So, it will always be there for you to use again in PAF 3 if needed. Of course if you add new individuals to PAF 5 they wont be in your PAF 3 data unless you put them in there too.

Just open up your PAF 5 program, create a NEW database, using the same name as your present one if you wish, and identify it by, say, adding "5" to the name. That way you will be able to determine just which data is which. Then locate your PAF 3 data, and PAF 5 will ask if you want to convert it. Say"yes" and away you go!
