PAF 4.0 not in Windows Explorer

When I was looking for an output.prn file I generated in PAF 4.0 I could not find PAF 4.o in the Windows Explorer List nor could I find it using "Find". Then I looked in PAF 3.0 and found it in my 3.0 data file. In PAF 3.0 I found that sources I had added in 4.0 were showing up in 3.0. I then checked an individual who had no sources in 3.0, went to 4.0, added the sources, went back to 3.0 and there they were. This seems similar to Ancestral Quest 3.0 using PAF 3.0 files. What's going on?
