Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Right on John,

you were right! I had a working copy of FO6; exported with that.
Even though it had a CHAR value of ANSI, PAF5 got it correct.
Thanks for the hint. Since I never imported the GEDCOM except
into FO8 I had no idea of that mess!:-)

Now let's see if you can give me an other hint. Would like to look
at my place list (and edit them) - without the associated events to them.
Looks like there is no simple way just to do that - or is there?

Joe
