Nope. No backup, but I do have a gedcom from about a year ago that has less information than when I "doubled up". You are right. Maybe your plan of using the old gedcom will work and I can just do as you have suggested.
I guess I learned the value of a back up with this.
You would think I'd have been more cautious...... but hindsight is 20/20. :-)
