Phillip, it appears like your computer needs a good "spring" clean. How long is it since you ran Scandisk thoroughly, Defragmented your hard drives, emptied out all "temp" files? Sounds like it has been a long time, I would say. PAF wouldn't be to blame for your problems. With tens of thousands of users around the world, someone would have discovered this before now if it was the fault of PAF alone.
What you need to do is close down all running programs EXCEPT EXPLORER (your Windows program) and SYSTRAY. Do this by pressing CTRL-ALT-DELETE, highlight each listed program in turn and press END TASK, leaving only that above two running. Then click START|FIND and type in "*.tmp" without the quotes, and click FIND NOW. Delete all the items that come up in the search box.
Next, go to C:\WINDOWS\TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES and delete all the items in there. You can leave any "cookies" that you feel are essential, but even if you do delete them, and they are essential, they will come back again next time you use that particular web site.
Make sure you are disconnected from the Internet. If you have Cable connection - unplug the cable from the back of your computer.
After that, click on START|PROGRAMS|ACCESSORIES|SYSTEM TOOLS|SCANDISK.
When you have scanned all of your hard drives (if you have more than one), go back to SYSTEM TOOLS and select DISK DEFRAGMENTER. Select ALL DRIVES (if you have more than one) and go and have a cup of coffee! Why the coffee? Well, from the sound of it it will take some time :-)
This should clean out the memory hogs, and get you running well again. Restart your computer, open up PAF and start entering your data. There should be no problems now.
