The available printable area on your model printer is a little unusual, particularly the bottom margin of .59 inches. You may have conflicting settings in Word. For instance, if you have the bottom margin set at .500 inches or less, you ARE going to have problems with the body of the text conflicting with the footers!
As I mentioned before, opening an RTF file in WORDPAD will strip off the headers and footers. Try opening your ahnentafel report in Wordpad and see if the nature of your problem changes. (Keep in mind that Wordpad has margin settings too).
Also, HP states that if you have both USB and LPT-1 ports, you must completely uninstall the parallel driver before changing and installing the USB driver and cable. And don't forget to use a good bi-directional cable for parallel. Be sure you have the ECP function turned on in your bootup bios, too, if you are using the parallel port.
