PAF 5 creates UTF-8 GEDCOM files by default. The first three bytes of the file are the Unicode Byte Order Mark, telling receiving systems that the file is Unicode. PAF 5 and the Church's Pedigree Resource File are the only known systems that can currently recognize UTF-8 GEDCOM files. So if you are exporting to another system, you should choose "Other" in PAF 5 and indicate ANSEL as the character set.
