Hello,

I am researching genealogy of John Smith Padley, b. 1843, who came to the U. S. A. in his youth. He entered the States at Southport, North Carolina (probably) and on July 17, 1873 married Sarah E. Cotton at Southport. They had at least one child, Joseph Lewis Padley, Sr., my grandfather. Accoring to the U. S. A. 1910 Census, Joseph's father came from England. However, some of the older members of my family have told me that they heard that both Joseph and Sarah had thick Scottish accents...so there is discrepency here.

Since you list John Padley, I wonder if there could be some family connection. I would be interested in any information that you might have.

Thank you.

JoAnn Padley Hunt
Lynchbur, Virginia in the U. S. A.
