It is curious how the Padians use so few names.

My grandfather was John J (1892-1958), my father Luke J (1922-1979), my older brother John James (1945-1995).

The 1st John had a brother Henry in Cambridge MA and a sister Elizabeth in Milford NH. Neither had any children.
His sister Kate Cooney stayed in Ireland. Henry & Bessie returned to Roscommon and died there a year apart over 30 years back.

My aunt Elizabeth (1921-2006) visited Ireland a couple of times into the 80s and kept up with the folks there if not the collaterals here.

He had a (cousin?) Tom who was in NY, whose descendents (incl another Luke) live in Dallas TX.

My father had a couple of cousins who were NY policeman, including another Jim and Bill I think.

I remember meeting them but almost 50 years ago. I do not recall anyone but grandfather's cousin Tille King turning up at wakes (1979, 1989( for my parents and she was gone by the time my brother died. She looked a lot like him. His father died in Ireland more than 70 years ago.

To confuse matters there were a lot of cousins on his and my grandmother's sides named Mike and Bill and since they were last around me when I was very young. Both weregone before I hit 11 and I am nmow their oldest living descendant.

My brother was accumulating papers so we coulod go for Irish citizenship but all that disappeared when his lawyer cleared his desk.

We could not find the old photos my aunt Be had kept that included bits like the news of great-grandfather's death and pictures of folks (and graves) on the other side. Unfortunately she did not believe in taking notes.

I have some details somewhere on my grandparents' marriage that named their parents and will have to burrow in the attic.

I wish I had known of the reunion. I could have pried some info out of my aunt before her failing health made her less reliable a source.

Plus I have seen my grandmother Anna Breslin Padian's birthplace and even my maternals on the far side of the world and never got to Co R. Must get to it.
