Jesse Gorham 4/27/11
I spoke to my mother and got some clarification on the Jesse Ransom Padfield confusion.
The Jesse Ransom Padfield that was the father of Gordon Padfield, was actually Jesse Ransom Padfield Sr. He had two sons by his young Italian/American wife, whose name I have not yet been able to come up with. According to my mother, her biologiocal paternal grandmother was only fifteen when she was first pregnant by Jesse Senior. Gordon and Jesse Jr. were full brothers.
My grandfather, Jesse Ransom Padfield Jr. died in April 1956 just 6 months before I was born. My mother still remembers her Uncle Gordon and Aunt Louise. She told me that her father's mother, the Italian, came to her father's funeral in 1956. She told me that her great Grandfather, Jesse Sr. was married 5 times by her counting. It was Jesse Jr. that had the farm in Tempe AZ were my mother and her two brothers and one sister were born, but he died of cancer in San Diego, CA. His wife, my grandmother, Lucil G. Irvine Padfield died in January 1971, just a few months after her youngest daughter,(3rd child) Deborah, my aunt, died in 1970 of problems related to alcoholism.
Renee, if Gordon was your father than we would be 2nd cousins. If he was your grandfather than we would be 2nd cousins once removed.
My mother remembers her great aunt Ida and recalled that she was a very kind and devote Christian woman.
