I am completing a statement of eligibility for membership in the Pilgrim John Howland Society and would like to fill in a few blanks on the history of James Gilmore Paddock, my grandfather. Below is a detailed genealogy of my family back to Robert Paddock who came to America in 1634. I've also tracked the Paddock family as far back as 1290's (Gilloine Padoque)in Northern France.

b. 16 Sept 1583 in Stephenstown, County Dublin Ireland
Inherited his father's blacksmith shop before immigrating to the colonies about 1634. Served as a blacksmith to the Plymouth Colony led by Capt. Miles Standish. Appointed Constable of the town of Plymouth 1646.

Graduated West Point 1877. Served in the Indian wars with the 5th Cavalry. Discharged 1879 when wounded during 3-day battle with Ute Indians.
