Aykock letter
It has been 60 years since the Pace Society found the Winifred Aykock letter written in the 1790s. It was assumed that the pedigree she laid out tied the Richard and John Pace of North Carolina to Richard Pace of Prince George Co. Va.. 60 years of document research has produced no evidence of Winifred's pedigree in the Westover, Martins Brandon Parish where Richard Pace died in 1677. Unfortunately hundreds of people have built their pedigree on the unproven assumption propagated by this letter. Over a half century of finding no evidence to prove a relationship between the Westover Parish Pace's and the Pace's first found in N.C. should give us a hint we are looking in the wrong direction.
