Hi Richard,

We're researching the same line and have run into many of the same dead-ends and confusing issues. I descend from TWO of the Pace's from Ontario, who came to the St. Clair County area. I believe my 2 Pace's (Fred and David) are the brothers of Jacob), and the sons of Michael and Annie. I too have been trying to tie Michael and Annie to the Michael and Anna/Annie Margaret Welsh.

When was Jacob born? I have Fred Pace being born in New Jersey in 1807, and David Pace being born in Ontario around 1816 (to parents from NJ). This might suggest that Michael and Annie moved to Canada AFTER 1807, but I don't know...I thought I've seen info that places Michael and Annie in Ontario in 1799.
