Looking for Joseph Stutts 1825-1862

I have hit a brick wall with my 2nd great grandfather, Joseph Stutts. I am not sure where he was born, records are inconsistant so I am hitting each PA County genealogy forum to find him. There is a tomb stone in Otterbein Cemetery in Juniata Co. with his name an the dates:b-1/25/1821,d-9/3/1862. I have only found the 1850 and 1860 census on him and his wife, Hannah Shrawder, b-1827. In 1850 Joseph is in Deleware Township and works as a canal worker. In 1860 he lives in Mifflin Borough and works for the PA Railroad In'60 he has 3 childen, William Lucian-b-1852, George J-b-1855, and Martha Ellen-b-1857. In 1870 Joseph is gone and Hannah has maried a Jacob Humphrey and has a 3 year old Humphrey son with her plus 4 Stutts children. The last Stutts child is Randolph -b-1862. THey live in Fermanagh.
I am unable to find Joseph's place of birth (which may even be Germany), his parents names, and if that is my Joseph in Otterbein Cemetery- but how and where did he die?
I believe he stayed with the Railroad during the Civil War.
PLEASE, if anyone can help me I would be so grateful. The Forums are not sending emails to let us know we have a response so if you could email me directly at I would appreciate it.
Thank you Carolyn
