For a long time I've been searching for information about my g-g-grandfather, John DEEMER. All I have is that he appears in 1850 and 1860 census records for Lebanon Co., PA. These indicate he was born about 1812. I also have his marriage to a widow, Catherine Boyer, at Stouchsburg, Berks Co., in 1842. He raised three children (Melinda, Henry Marion, and Samuel James) who were the off spring of Catherine and her first husband, Samuel BOYER. I have much detail about the family after 1850. I've been unable to find any earlier records of John.
Recently I discovered a couple of online database that indicate John's parents were Jonathan (aka Jonas) DEEMER and Barbara PIFER of Jefferson Co., PA These records trace the family back to Andreas DEEMER, and immigrant. They indicate John's birthdate as 12 Mar 1812.
I'm now searching for any clear evidence that this John is the same John as my ancestor. Might you have any further clues, especially anything that clearly show these 2 John DEEMER are one and the same?
The DEEMER lines mostly originate in Northampton Co. PA. There are records that show some of them moved to western PA, (Westmoreland, Jefferson, et.al.) as well as to Lebanon Co. It's certainly possible that a western PA DEEMER may have moved back east to Lebanon.
