What was the Slab Castle in Honesdale, mentioned in various Wayne county references. My G-G-Grandfather and his brother operated "J & R H Dunning" store there (hatters) in the 1830s and 40s, and in one reference the location is noted as the "present (1885) site of the Skating Rink". Another reference mentions the Ficken family who lived in the Slab Castle. What was this place. If I had to guess location, I would say on Front (now Main) Street, between 10th and 11th Streets (per the 1872 Beers map).
