Thanks again. Your clarification does not change much in my thinking. I will see what I have at home.
However, I do have some interesting coincidences. My wife's grandmother was the later Mildred Marie Riley-Ivey (1907-2000), born in NYC (though the family moved soon after to Lakewood, Wayne County, PA. Her father was Joseph Thomas Riley (abt 1883-1971), who worked for a Railroad. Mildred's mother and first wife of Joseph Thomas was Mary "Molly" McLaughlin (1878-1916). At this point, I believe that Joseph Thomas's father was Cornelius Riley (b abt 1809). Other than Mildred, most of John William's descendents seemed to have died without leaving any living descendents. Some died in PA; other in NE. Some came from PA, went to NE and returned to PA. Joseph Thomas apparently lived in Omaha and came back to PA. He may have been born in either places.
The Rileys are very confusing. All children seem to be named after parents and siblings. These are all common biblical names. Lots of Johns and Marys.
