Since I orignally posted this, I have come to the conclusion that John William Riley's parents are Cornelius Riley (b abt 1809/Ireland)and Mary McLaughlin. Cornelius was one of several Riely/Reilly/Reily/O'Reillys that arrived in this country prior to about 1850 and settled in Wayne County, PA in the Rock Lake area, including Preston, Mt Pleasant and Pleasant Mount. Most likely some or all are related. Two others are Bernard and Michael. Of the three, I know the least of Michael's descendents.
Cornelius and family were in Pohocco, Saunders County, NE (west of Omaha) in 1880. Bernard and family were in Spalding, Greely County, NE (a distance NW of Omaha). Michael's family probably did not migrate to NE, but I am not certain.
As for Mary E Riley (b1879), she is likely either the child or grandchild (most likely) of Cornelius or Bernard. Some of their descendents went to live in Omaha...some still live in NE.
I will take a look at my detailed Riley information at home to determine if I have a Mary E Riley that was born in 1879. She should also be in the 1880 Census, now online and free through LDS.
