Smith - McGlumphy / McGlumphry Cross Creek

I attempting to identify the parents of Lucy May McGlumphry. Lucy McGlumphy {with siblings (Robert) Smith and Margaret} is listed in the 1870 Census with Susan McGlumphy in Cross Creek (Wash Co., PA). Their mothers name was (--) Smith.

Since they are living in the home (or next to the home) of John & Elizabeth McGlumphy, I'm attempting to determing which McGlumphy son was the father. That only leaves James S. (Smith) McGlumphy.

But James, who registered for the Civil War Draft in 1863 (married - age 20) is also listed as married to Eliza Esvay in 1869 ??? He was in and out of the infantry in time to father Lucy, (Robert) Smith, and Margaret. But I can't find enough information to confirm that he is their father and the name of their mother.

Smith (Mc Glunephie) is with Henry (64) and Maria (41) VanDyne (Hancock Co, WV) in the 1880 Census and listed as "a son". At that point Lucy is 18 and a housekeeper in Steubenville. This tells me their mother was also gone by 1880.

Any leads, records, or logic appreciated. Lucy May McGlumphy/Jones/Gibson was my great-grandmother.
