Recently I have come across records over in France concerning this family.
Joseph Gigogne, who moved to Oil City from Frenchtown, Crawford Co. was born in France as Desle Antoine Joseph Gigogne and was the son of Claude Francoise (Joseph Sr.) and Marie Sophia Triboulet Gigogne. Claude (Joseph) was the son of Jean Louis (born in Sete, Haorault, France) and Anne Mougenot of Haute-Saone, France. Jean Louis was the son of Francois Xavier Gigogne (b.1764 Haute-Saone) and Marie Francois Durin who seemed to move around France, but some records found in Haute-Saone, France. Francois was the son of Pierre Francois Gigogne and Anne Hayotte who were always listed as homeless or vagabonds. This family moved around the country quite a bit. Pierre had a total of 15 children by two wives.
