Thomas and Julia E. Welch/Welsh
Posted by: Pauline Gray-Snitwongse (ID *****9934) Date: October 31, 2010 at 08:54:27

Thomas Welch/Welsh was born in Ireland and perhaps emmegrated to the U.S. at the age of 13 in 1848 with a large family group of 16 people. He was a soldier in the Civil War and it appears lived in Oil City, Pa. for many years. According to an application for a duplicate of his discharge papers it appears the home he was living in 1872 or 1873 burned down. Does anybody know if there would be a record of such a fire, and how to go about finding it? I suppose a newspaper article may exsist. Any help or advice appreciated.
