Luther Moyer Mourer was born February 21, 1856 in Mifflinburg, Union Co., PA.Jacob V. Mohr was born there in about 1850.Luther was my wife's grandfather and Jacob was his half brother. So the mother was married to a man named Mohr some time prior to 1850 and should be listed in the 1850 census with a newborn son and a husband. She was married to a Mourer before 1856 and had a son and should be listed in the 1860 census with a husband and two sons. We don't know the mother's maiden name but it is possible it was Moyer. We have no idea what happened to Mr. Mohr, Mr. Mourer or the mother. We next find Luther's marriage to Ida Alice "Allie" Logan in Hancock Co., OH July 19, 1879.Luther signed his name L. M. Mowrer on the marriage certificate. Jacob is next found in 1880 in Stella, Richardson Co., NE as a batchler school teacher. He married Jennie there and they all ended up in Yakima, Yakima Co., WA. Who were Luther and Jacob's parents? Were there other siblings? We don't know when the family left Union Co., PA or even if they left together.
