Hi Paula,
My Macomber/Macumber family lived in Chatham Twp. John Macomber and two of his grandsons are buried in the Old Cloos Burial Ground there. I suspect that after John's death in 1836, his wife, Silence (Briggs), married a man named Wass. In the 1840 census, she was living with her son, Redding, as Silence Macomber and was with him in 1850 as Silence Wass. She was apparently remarried and widowed between 1840 and 1850. Do you have any idea which Wass she was married to?

Thanks, Carol
