Matrimonial Triangle: Richard Coleman Massey, aged 71, was married last week to Miss Pearl Odom, age 19, at Parkersburg, W.Va. The bride is the step-granddaughter of the groom. Mr. Massey's son was married to the bride's mother. Since the bride was not of age Mr. Massey's son had to give the consent before his father could be married. The elder Mr. Massey then became the son-in-law of his son and thus his own grandson, while the younger Mrs. Massey became his own grandfather. The bride became her own grandmother. Should children be born to both couples the tangle would be inextricable. source: the Windber Era, Nov. 6, 1902. ( Is it any wonder that we genealogical researchers get data mixed upped? )
