Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
I saw your email, and have seen this name before. In fact, when my ggggrandfather died in 1823 at the young age of 33 (epilepsy), his land was sold to Jacob Gaugler for $194 and change. He lived and died in Chapman twp of Union Co., PA. I believe Jacob may have been related to my husband's gggrandmother, Christina Gaugler who married John Frederick Stahl. There were a lot of Gauglers in Chapman twp back then! John was the only son of Henry Stahl, the one who died in 1823. It was impossible for John to buy the land when it went up for auction because he was only 15 at the time of his father's death and he was still under the guardianship of Abraham Blaser (sp?).
Henry Stahl was very poor, had a house, stable, horse, a few acres of land....plus a young wife and 5 kids. If you want to correspond, feel free to do so. My name is Grace Stahl LeVan
