John Mertz & His wife Sarah Harmony? Mertz are very hard to find info for.
I think they may have been from the Middleburg area but I am not sure.
I am trying to eliminate the people it couldn't have been by eliminating parents wh had children with the same birth year.
I have found the 1850 Census for Union Twp., Auglaize County Ohio. This area would be around St. Johns, OH and Uniopolis, OH

John Mertz, age 49, Farmer , Born PA
Sarah Mertz, age 47, , Born PA
Archibald Mertz, age 20, Blacksmith, Born PA
Franklin Mertz, age 15, , Born PA
James Mertz, age 13, , Born PA
Elizabeth Mertz, age 8, , Born PA
William Mertz, age 6, , Born PA
Emma Mertz, age 4, , Born PA
William Mertz name is really John William Mertz.
Franklin Mertz name is really Benjamin Franklin Mertz.
John & His wife are buried in St. Johns, Auglaize COunty, Ohio with some of their children.
John or Sarah had to have had parents.

If information I have found is correct I can say that John Benjamin Mertz that was born Feb 1777 in Berks PA and that married Catherina Sterner who was born abt 1779 and were married abt 1796 cannot be his parents.
