will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
William Lawrence is shown as a "Warrantee" (land owner), on the map published "as early as 1814", in Lackawaxen Township. Torrey's map is numbered and the number that corresponds to William Lawrence's land is #163. The map was "compiled from official surveys on file in the land office at Harrisburg;" and republished with corrections on December 3, 1915, then reissued by Frank Schorr in 1925. Because the Pike Co. Historical Society helped in publishing this book I refer to in my first message, they may have a copy of Norman B. Lehde's book, and will probably send you a copy of pages 40-41 (the map), and pg. 45 where William is listed in the alphabetized list of "warrantees" for Lackawaxen Tnshp. There are many other lists of Pike Co. people in the book but I am concentrating on the initial land-owners at this time. I did go back to the library yesterday to try to get a "publisher" and date of publ. from the book but there is none listed! I believe it was a commemorative work (large black volume, about 8 1/2 x 11, with wonderful very old pictures reproduced in it). I have had the map scanned to me by the ref. librarian but it did not come through clearly. I will be publishing it when I get a legible copy, and permission from the author.
