The Charles above is most likely NOT a child of John and Hannah.. Charles had a sister Angeline, near as I can tell -

I found a notice this week, in The Gem, Danville Pa, 18 Aug 1894 there is the following notice -

In Schyler, Montour County, on Monday, August the 6th 1894, Charles Smith ages about fifty nine years. The deceased was a brother of Mrs. Angeline Geringer, of this city.

I found it stranged that only his sister was mentioned, but the researchers explained that this would only be newsworthy because of his connection to Mrs Gerringer, who lived in the city. Deaths of "country folk" did not normally make the newspaper, unless they were related to someone living in the town. Interesting! And a lead! I now know that Charles had a sister Angeline. Angeline married Adam Gerringer, who owned the City Hotel. I was able to obtain his obituary, which was more of a news item on his death than an obituary, so no more leads there.. but knowing that Angeline was his sister is a lead!
