I suggest contacting the Historical Society of Montgomery County: www.hsmcpa.org

They should be willing to help and the fact that you have the exact date of death should make it much easier although it sometimes took a week or two to report war deaths to the newspapers. Just be sure to explain as you did here where you are from and why you are doing it. If you have any problems let me know.
