I'm starting to research an ancestor, and know little of the family...most interested in the parents of John, whether he was the original emigrant or born here, his parents, etc.
Here's what we know.
His date and place of birth are unknown, but his will entered probate in 1823....Miffin Co.

John Beatty......October 21, 1782, took out a warrant for the purchase of 150 acres of land in what is now Wayne Twp, Mifflin County, PA
John Beatty.,...weaver by trade and in 1783 was taxed on 160 acres
John Beatty... 1790 taxed on 100 acres.
. On October 20, 1785, John Beatty witnessed the signing of his brother-in-law, James Criswell's will was probated one year later on October 25, 1786

Wife of John Beatty was Elizabeth Criswell
Children of John and Elizabeth (Criswell) Beatty were
Elizabeth, married Robert Forgy,
Margaret, married John Dull,
Eleanor, married George Baxter (they married Jan 9, 1794 in York, York Congregation of Rev. Robert Cathcart , a minister of Seceder Presbyterianism)
Hannah married Benjamin Miller and Moses Day
Jane, married Thomas Ferrier,
Mary, married Thomas Knox
Susannah, married John Stewart
Martha, never married.

Was said to have been from Ireland, and a weaver, but I've found no primary documentation for this....someone else said his father was named Patrick, but again, no documentation to back it up.
