Following is a tentative chronology of the life of my gggg grandfather Daniel Carmichael (1736/43-1777), of Derry Twp., Cumberland (today Mifflin) Co., PA, who m. Mary Eaton (1740-1805) c1764. He served as an ensign in the American Revolution, from which he did not return. Mary, the daughter of Jas. and Abigail Eaton, of Hamilton Twp., Cumberland Co., PA, later m. Jas. Thompson and moved to E. TN. Information is drawn from various on-line and published sources.

1761: Improved land in Fermanagh Twp., Cumberland Co., PA; paid quit rent for land
1762: Land warrant, Fermanagh Twp., Cumberland Co., PA (5 Jun.; 50 acres)
1763: Land surveyed (13 Sep.)
1763: Fled from Indian raids
About 1764: Married Mary Eaton, Lancaster Co., PA
1764: Birth of son Daniel, Jr.
1765: Returned to land
1765/1770: Birth of daughter Margaret
1767: Tax List, Fermanagh Twp., Cumberland Co., PA (100 acres, 10 cleared)
1767: Bought land patent, “Walnut Bottom,” from Richard Tea, who had earlier acquired it from the original settler, Barnabas Barnes (9 Dec.)
1767/1768: Birth of daughter Abigail
1768: Tax List, Derry Twp., Cumberland Co., PA
1769: Birth of son James (16 Aug.)
